The Wheel Trip.

We cruise on most days to the Falkirk Wheel and back, taking one party from the boat house to the Wheel Basin and after this our passengers can have lunch and have a look at the Visitors Centre.  They then return back using their own transport while we pick up a second party, ascend The Falkirk Wheel and return to the boat house with them. Both trips take about two hours and although we always go to the Wheel on Tuesday and Thursday, other days can be organised to suit your specific requirements. The morning trip leaves the Boathouse at 10.30 a.m., the return trip leaves the Wheel Basin in the afternoon at 2.00 p.m.

After leaving the Boathouse we cruise past the top of the former locks which descended to the Forth & Clyde Canal and then along the new extension to the Union Canal to Locks 1 & 2, the only locks on the Union.

These locks drop us down to the turning basin and level with the top of the Wheel.

We then pass through the tunnel that was specially dug to allow the canal to pass under the main Edinburgh to Glasgow railway line, and the Antonine Wall, built by the Romans to keep the Scottish clans in their northern lands.

Then out onto and over the aqueduct that will take us onto the Wheel

And finally we go down on the Wheel into the Basin, beside which sits the Visitors Centre which you may visit after your cruise.
